Ok lets be honest here how many times did you get a text message that you had to read al least twice just to know what it said? We all have these short cuts and it’s useful to text that way but you need to make sense when you’re writing your dating profile.

When you use shortcuts or text language you and your friends know what you mean but when you use it in your profile not everyone else gets what your trying to say or appreciates it, they may even think you don’t know how to spell. OK you don’t want to please everyone but if you want to keep your options open your best chances are to use normal words like the rest of us.

Many of us are not the best spellers in the world to begin with and when we write our profile or emails online and not on our own computer we can make silly spelling mistakes. But if you take online dating seriously a spell checker really is a girls best friend!

When you read a profile or email with many misspellings or grammatical errors you don’t get the best first impression of that person. However nice he may be you still think he could have taken the effort to check his spelling as it’s so easy to do. You’re not the only one who thinks that, bad grammar and spelling are one of the biggest turn offs in online dating!

This is not what we want happening to you so before you hit the send or publish button check your spelling and grammar again. We all make mistakes so don’t worry about that but misspellings are easily fixed by running your text through a spell checker.

When you write your profile and edit it a few times your sentences might not make sense anymore or miss a word here and there, because you’ve been working on it for a while you don’t see these little mistakes. What you can do is save it and check it again in a few hours, the next day or let a friend proof read your profile.

Don’t let this stop you writing emails and setting up dating profiles! Remember we all make mistakes and that’s ok, just be yourself and write like you talk as this is more natural to you anyway. If men don’t like it they’re probably not right for you anyway but to increase your chances just use all the tools on your computer before you hit send!
